“Behold the machinery of despair, where souls are broken, ground and refined, to power the endless wheels of an unfeeling world.“
Nothing more than Nin Kuji’s dirty one-track jam sessions. The title track, “Soulgrinder Apparatus,” consists of just a woodstick loop and an additional percussion loop, which has been so heavily digitally distorted that it has resulted in a darkly flickering noise piece. One of those many coincidences…
The song is accompanied by two rough rhythm and noise session recordings (not further processed) that are at least as sonically unpleasant. The album concludes with effected plucking on an ordinary egg slicer, accompanied by amateurish finger drumming. That’s noise, isn’t it?
Nin Kuji was very busy producing a completely different musical project for friends in 2017, which is why there are only these few, unpolished jam sessions. At least the artwork gives the whole package a touch of fictional metaphysical industry.
[Once again, just a documentary, not a real publication.]
